Make more of your visit
Discover walking ideas, compare the forecast and find places to explore around Newcastle and the Mournes. Mourne Guide is independent of councils, tourism authorities, landowners and rescue services.
How we use sources
Route facts come from WalkNI and official visitor or landowner information. We write our own summaries and link to the original route. Distances are approximate and rounded; linear routes are labelled where we quote the full return journey. Easy, Moderate and Strenuous are comparison groups. The original source grade appears on each detail page.
Time and total ascent are left unverified when an authoritative source does not publish them. Our pages are planning overviews, not turn-by-turn directions. Check the source and access signs for changes. Sources were checked on 8 October 2026.

About the forecast
Forecast data is supplied by MET Norway, under CC BY 4.0. We select upcoming hours, convert wind speed to km/h and round displayed values. Location elevations are explicit model inputs; Tollymore and Newcastle are representative points, not surveyed weather stations.
The issue time describes the provider’s forecast, not an observation. Older cached data is labelled when the provider cannot be reached. Missing data stays unavailable. Use official forecasts and warnings as well as this guide.
Mountain data & sources
Core summit facts from the Database of British and Irish Hills, version 18.6, are used under CC BY 4.0. We selected the Mourne-area records, grouped some subsidiary tops and wrote original descriptions; each detail page names its source. Supplementary OpenStreetMap facts extend the catalogue beyond prominence classifications. © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL 1.0. The combined public mountain database is available under ODbL 1.0; underlying DoBIH facts retain their CC BY 4.0 attribution. These data terms apply to the catalogue, separately from photograph licences and site design. Database of British and Irish Hills → · Public mountain data →
